About Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a treatment that involves the use of fine filament (acupuncture) needles to release tight, painful muscles.

Dry needling is not acupuncture. During dry needling the needles are inserted into trigger points within muscles. Trigger points are the firm "knots" or "ropey" areas in the muscle that cause muscular pain, stiffness and dysfunction.

Dry needling aims to release trigger points, this in-turn may assist in the healing of conditions such as:

  • Muscular strains

  • Ligament injuries

  • Tendinitis

  • Rotator cuff (shoulder) injuries

  • Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Sporting injuries
